Diocletian's Palace Old Town Small-Group Tour

About this experience

You meet at the Golden Gate, the palace's north entrance, where the guide holds up a blue umbrella. From there the route runs through the palace to the Peristyle and the Cathedral of St Domnius, out to Ivan Meštrović's statue of Gregory of Nin, down to the Riva and back to the Golden Gate. Ninety minutes, in English, in a small group.

This listing has the most reviews of any tour on our site: 5,831 on the partner feed in October 2026, averaging 4.9. That many guests rarely agree by accident. The flip side is that quality depends on which guide you get, and the review we can quote here dates from 2022.

It doesn't touch Poljud, and it isn't wheelchair accessible: the palace has steps and uneven stone. If you want more depth, the walk with a historian runs 110 minutes for $29. If you want less, the 50-minute walk is $14.

Tips before you book

  • Go early or late in summer. Midday on the Peristyle is hot and crowded.
  • Rub Gregory of Nin's toe while you're there. Everyone does.
  • The tour ends where it starts, at the Golden Gate. From there Poljud is under 2 km away, roughly 25 minutes on foot.
