Split's Old Town faces south over the harbour. Poljud faces north, onto the bay of Kaštela, at the foot of Marjan hill. Between them lie the lanes of Varoš and the residential streets of Spinut, and the whole trip is under 2 km.
Here are the options in order of how much we like them, plus what sits next to the stadium once you are there.
The quick answer
Walk: it is under 2 km from the Riva to Poljud, roughly 25 minutes, through Varoš or across town to the north seafront. City buses stop nearby; check routes on promet-split.hr. A taxi or ride-hailing car takes a few minutes. Parking is scarce and not officially signposted, so don't drive on match days. The Franciscan monastery of Poljud and the Marjan forest park are right next door.

How far is Poljud Stadium from Split Old Town?
Under 2 km from the Riva, roughly 25 minutes on foot. From the northern edge of the historic centre it is about 1 km.
The address is 8. Mediteranskih igara 2, 21000 Split, in the Poljud neighbourhood of the Spinut district. Put that into your map app rather than "Poljud", which also brings up the swimming pools and the monastery.
What is the best walking route from the Riva to Poljud?
Two good ones: across town to the north seafront and along the bay, or up through the stone lanes of Varoš and down through Spinut.
- The north seafront: walk north from the Old Town through the newer streets of the centre until you reach the water on the other side of the peninsula, then follow the bay west to the stadium. Flat, simple and the right choice after dark.
- Through Varoš: from the west end of the Riva, climb into Varoš, the old quarter of fishermen and farmers below Marjan, then drop down through Spinut to the stadium. A few more steps, and much more character.
Both take about 25 minutes at an easy pace. On match day, follow the white shirts.

Ride instead of walk: the bike tour links the Old Town, Marjan and a guided visit inside Poljud.

Several city buses run by Promet Split stop near the stadium. Check the current lines on promet-split.hr before you go.
Stadium guides name lines 3, 7 and 17, but Promet Split publishes no page that confirms them as stadium lines, and routes change. The Promet Split app and the interactive map at fleet.promet-split.hr show the stops and live arrival times. Buy your ticket in the app or at a kiosk before boarding.
Honestly, for 25 minutes on foot, the bus only makes sense in summer heat or rain.
Can you take a taxi or an Uber to Poljud?
Yes. It is a ride of a few minutes from the Old Town, and ride-hailing apps work in Split.
Ask to be dropped at the Fan shop if you are going on the stadium tour; the meeting point is a flag about 5 metres from its entrance. On match days the streets around the stadium jam up before kick-off and after the final whistle, so walk the last stretch and get picked up a few streets away.

Is there parking at Poljud Stadium?
Not officially signposted. The club publishes no visitor parking, and a fan guide says there is none on match days.
We found no official visitor car park. On match days, leave the car at your apartment and walk. Split's centre is small, and a car is more trouble than help here.
Can you get to Poljud by bike?
Yes, and one tour builds it in: the Old Town bike tour rides via Sustipan and Marjan and ends with a guided tour inside Poljud.
The bike tour with Poljud starts with the Old Town on foot, then rides to the cliffs at Sustipan, down through the Marjan forest park and on to the stadium. The bikes stay outside; you go in with a guide. It ends at a bar with Croatian craft beer. It takes 3.5 hours, costs from $104, needs riders aged 12 and up (beer 18+) and has a small sample of 4 reviews, all five stars.

The one ride that goes inside the stadium: Old Town, Sustipan cliffs, the Marjan forest, a guided Poljud tour and craft beer.

The Franciscan monastery of Poljud, a few minutes' walk away, and the Poljud swimming pools right beside the stadium.
The Franciscan Church and Monastery of St Anthony goes back to a church built around 1020. The monastery is 15th century, with a fortified 16th-century cloister. Its altar holds Girolamo da Santacroce's 1549 polyptych, which includes the oldest known depiction of Split, held in the hands of St Domnius. A Baroque painting by Mihovil Luposignoli shows the Prophet Muhammad among 39 theologians, a rare image in a Catholic church.
Combine the two: stadium tour in the morning, monastery after, then up the hill.

How do you get from Poljud to Marjan hill?
On foot through Spinut, or on a guided e-bike. Marjan's forest rises just west of the stadium.
Marjan is a protected forest park since 1964, with a highest point of 178 m, 15th-century St Jerome's church and the beaches of Bene and Kašjuni at its foot (Marjan). The classic way up is the stairway from Varoš to the Vidilica viewpoint.
The handmade e-bike tour climbs the south side to St Jerome's and the summit and tells Hajduk's story on the way down. It doesn't go into the stadium. The full day plan is in a football and history day in Split.

Up the hill behind Poljud on a handmade e-bike, with St Jerome's hermitage and the summit views.
